Going update after racing

The going at Ascot is Good to Firm.

Chris Stickels, Ascot’s Clerk of the Course, said: “It was a similar story to yesterday, Good to Firm ground, and the times indicated that too. We will be watering tonight with 5mm on everything.

“Tomorrow is set to be warmer, with temperatures set to go up a bit from what we were expecting today – although today did turn out to be better weather than I was anticipating. We are looking at temperatures of 26 degrees tomorrow.

“On the Round Course, the rail that pushes them out about four yards will be removed. The track will be at its widest configuration all the way round, giving us fresh ground on the inner from about nine furlongs out to turning in.”

Attendance

The crowd figure for day two of Royal Ascot was 42,315, up 1.8 per cent on 41,571 last year.
